Concern over rebellion in BJP

JAMMU, Aug 31: Concerned over rebellion in the party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leaders and Union Ministers discussed the issue during a high level party meeting here this evening.

According to sources, the newly appointed party Incharge for J&K Assembly poll and a political strategist, Ram Madhav rushed to Jammu this afternoon to discuss the situation with senior party leaders. Besides Madhav, Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh also reached here this evening, sources added.
The meeting was held at BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar here. It was among others attended by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy who being the election Incharge for J&K is camping here for last some days, party co Incharge J&K, Ashish Sood, BJP UT president Ravinder Raina and other senior leaders.
Sources said concerned over the rebellion in various parts of UT by senior party leaders and opposition by party activists for fielding parachute candidates against the wishes of local people, the senior leaders rushed here for immediate damage control.
Sources said that the list for remaining seven Assembly seats in Jammu region including Kathua town, Udhampur East, Bahu- Gandhi Nagar, Marh, Bishnah, Nowshera and Rajouri constituencies will be announced tomorrow. Besides, the names of candidates for some more constituencies in Kashmir may also be announced.
Sources said that the list was delayed as Party national president and Union Health Minister, J P Nadda was out of Union Capital and he will return to Delhi in the late night and the list will be released after his approval tomorrow.
Sources said the party national general secretary Incharge J&K, Tarun Chugh who held a meeting with party leaders and candidates in Srinagar today also informed them that the names of 10 candidates will be announced by party tomorrow. Sources said that Chugh has informed the meeting that the party may field candidates for two more Assembly segments in Central Kashmir district of Srinagar which included Eidgah and Lal Chowk constituencies.
It may be recalled that the party has already fielded its candidates in some Assembly segments of South Kashmir and Central Kashmir district of Srinagar. Earlier, it fielded one candidate from Habba Kadal constituency of Srinagar district in the first list released on August 26.
