“Magic of Millets Fest” concludes at GCOE

JAMMU, Apr 12: The two day awareness campaign on importance of Millets to commemorate International Year of Millets and Baisakhi Festival, concluded at GCOE Jammu. The program was convened by Dr. Mohan Singh, Director, Directorate of AYUSH, J&K, Jammu.
In the morning session of the program Prakariti Parikshan of all the participants was done by a team of doctors viz. Dr Shivani Padha, Dr Arun Gupta and Dr Shally from AYUSH & Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
In the afternoon session about 15 students participated in the Magic of Millets recipe making competition. The students brought variety of healthy recipes which were made up of different types of millets.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr, Geetanjali Rana, Dean, School of Humanities, the chief guest of the program, said that such type of innovative event has generated renewed interest of all the people in traditional food grains.
The Principal of the college Prof. Aekta Gupta lauded the efforts of the entire college team for making the event a huge success. She added that as teacher of future generations, the B.Ed. & M.Ed. students of the college shall propagate this message among the students in different schools.
The program was convened by Dr. Rajinder Kaur, M.Ed. Coordinator and Dr. Arun Gupta from AYUSH. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Program Officer and Prof. Shalini Rana, IQAC Coordinator coordinated the program.
The Magic of Millets: Recipe competition was adjudged by Dr. Geetanjali Rana, Prof. Aekta Gupta and Dr. Shally. Neha Thakur won the contest while as Manisha and Gaurav Khajuria of GCOE, Jammu stood 2nd and 3rd respectively. The prizes were sponsored by Vasu Healthcare.
Prof. Anju Bala (B.Ed Co-ordinator Prof.Seema Kotwal, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, Dr. Deep Kumar Bangotra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Satish K. Sharma, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Vinay Lata, Prof. Anuradha Chowdhary, Prof. Shamboo Nath, Dr. Sushma Bala and Prof.Seema Kumari other faculty members were present on the occasion.
