Magistrate seals Bar & Restaurant in Poonch

MENDHAR, Sept 16: The local administration today sealed a Bar and Restaurant which was in operation for the last about two weeks at Bhimber Gali in Mendhar area of district Poonch.
Reports said the villagers led by Sarpanchs and Panchs of Dhar Galoon and Balakote area today assembled at Dhar Galoon at around 10 am and blocked the road. They started protest demonstration against the functioning of the Bar and Restaurant in the area. They pointed out that operation of the Bar was illegal as no public notice was issued or consent taken from the locals of the area. The standing guidelines were also overlooked while issuing NOCs by the authorities. They strongly opposed the opening of Bar at Bhimber Gali.
A large number of vehicles came to halt on this busy road as the people had raised barricades and sat on dharna in the middle of the road. They were shouting slogans against ETO Rajouri-Poonch Range, DC Excise, DC Poonch. Police and Excise Commissioner, J&K.
Later, SHO and Naib Tehsildar reached the spot but the people refused to clear the road. They took up the matter with senior officers. On the directions of DC Poonch, the incharge Tehsildar Shahzad Khan/ Ist Class Magistrate in along with SDPO Mendhar Shahid Naeem then sealed the Shah Bar and Restaurant sensing law and order problem.
ETO, Rajouri Poonch Range, Sheraz Ahmed when contacted said that this license was issued by the Excise Department after seeking all the formalities on 4th of this month and the Bar commenced operation on September 6. He said that Mr Shah owns valid license and he had also produced NOCs from DC and concerned SSP.
