JAMMU, Apr 3: Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Vikas Council has announced the upcoming Maha Arti event at the newly developed Tawi River Front in Jammu. Scheduled for April 13, 2025, at 5:30 PM, the event coincides with the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi and signifies the official commencement of activities at the much-anticipated riverfront project.
The Tawi River Front, modeled after Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati River Front, has been developed by Jammu Smart City Limited. The grand inauguration ceremony will witness the presence of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, as the chief guest, who will actively participate in the Arti ceremony.
This was disclosed by Rajesh Gupta, president of the Council, while addressing a press conference. He was accompanied by senior vice president Baldev Khullar, general secretary Rajesh Deewan, vice president Jatinder Kumar Gupta, Anoop Jain, Vijay Gupta, Pankaj Gupta, Sachin Sharma and Ramesh Tak.
Rajesh Gupta informed that alongside the Maha Arti, a grand mela is also being organized at the River Front in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism and Jammu Smart City Limited. He said the event aims to boost tourism and highlight Jammu’s cultural and religious significance.
“Inspired by revered religious hubs like Kashi, Rishikesh and Haridwar, the Council envisions the Tawi River Front as a center for both cultural and spiritual heritage, as well as water conservation efforts,” Gupta said, adding, the Maha Arti will be performed on the banks of Surya Putri Tavishi, the younger sister of Maa Ganga, at a sacred location blessed by Bawe Wali Mata.
On behalf of Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Vikas Council, Rajesh Gupta extended an open invitation to all devotees and tourists to participate in the celebrations and experience the divine aura of the newly unveiled Tawi River Front.
