JAMMU, Aug 18: Shri Maha Ganesh Charitable Foundation which has constructed a magnificent Ganesh Temple at Ganesh Vihar, Lower Muthi near here few years back on the pattern of Southern Indian architect has started various religious and social activities in the temple complex.
This was stated in a meeting attended by Trustees and devotees today held under the chairmanship of Prof O N Koul, general secretary of the Trust. The meeting while highlighting the objectives of the Trust said it has undertaken various social projects in hand for the upliftment of the needy and deserving people of displaced Pandit community. Besides, the Trust intends to open a professional training institute for the community, he added.
He said the two community halls of 4000 sq meter each have been constructed in the temple complex for social and religious functions. Besides the Trust has decided assist the meritorious but needy students of the community for pursuing higher professional or academic courses.
The meeting also gave final shape to the celebrations of the Vinayak Chouram falling on September 17 at Maha Ganesh Temple and decided to launch a fund raising movement on the same day by lighting 1111 Diyas and cost for lighting per Diya will also be Rs 1111.00 in which renowned and multifaceted personalities will participate.
The Ganesh shrine at Muthi is the replica of Maha Ganesh Asthapan in Hanand Chawalgam of Kashmir Valley having its trustees from the village.
