Maha: Police issues advisory after suspicious boat spotted at beach in Palghar

MUMBAI, Oct 6: The Maharashtra Police on Sunday issued an advisory urging public to remain alert after a suspicious boat was spotted at a beach in neighbouring Palghar district.

 

According to advisory, a local fisherman saw the boat at around midnight on October three near Chikhle village in Dahanu taluka and reported to the police sighting of the boat, which appeared to be larger and wider than typical vessels in the area, was near the shore.

 

However, when locals used their mobile flashlights and two-wheeler headlights to guide it to the coast, it ventured deep into the Arabian Sea, said the advisory.

 

Following which, the Coast Guard deployed helicopters to locate the suspicious green and white vessel, it said.

 

Meanwhile, sources in the Marine Police (Sagri Police), which looks after the activities in marine areas, said that they have intensified their patrolling.

 

Palghar superintendent of police has directed the officials to communicate with local fishing societies to gather information. (UNI)
