JAMMU, Oct 2: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Shalamar Road, Jammu, today celebrated 151st birth anniversary of Sher-e-Duggar, Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, founder of Mahajan Sabha, at Hans Raj Park near Sunder Singh Gurudwara Road, Jammu.
The function started with Havan-Poojan in which Vedic Mantras were recited by a renowned Pandit Sukh Devi Shastri, who explained the meaning of Vedic Mantras and importance of Havan in a disciplined atmosphere to a large gathering of community members.
Soon after the culmination of Havan-Poojan, the statues of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan were garlanded at Lala Hans Raj Park and Mahajan Sabha, Purani Mandi, Jammu by the president and all the members of the community present there.
While speaking on the occasion, Romesh Chander Gupta, president of the Sabha, highlighted various social reforms made by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, who pionerred the formation of various social organizations of non-political secular status to bring much needed social reforms and unity among the members of various social organizations.
Some other speakers in their brief speeches stressed that we should unite to fight the social evils which have crept in our society. They also stressed that the young generation should be educated by the parents to adopt social qualities among themselves to be good citizens of the Country.
The main Yajmans of the Havan were Romesh Chander Gupta and his wife, Sureshta Gupta, Rajesh Gupta (MLA, Jammu East), Gulchain Singh Charak (president, Dogra Sadar Sabha), Murari Lal (president, Kashyap Rajput Sabha), KK Khosa (president, Kashmiri Pandit Sabha).
Besides, Amar Nath Gupta, Jugal Mahajan, Rattan Lal Gupta (Ex-MLC), Romesh Gupta, Om Parkash Mahajan, Chander Mohan Gupta and many others participated in the Havan.
