Mahajan Sabha celebrates birth anniversary of Justice Mehar Chand

JAMMU, Dec 24: Mahajan Sabha Gandhi Nagar today celebrated Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan’s 134th birth anniversary by organizing a function at Mehar Chand Mahajan Park Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Former Mayor of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, who was the chief guest of the function, called for emulating values and principles of Justice, Nationalism, simplicity and social reforms which Justice Mahajan pursued throughout his life. He said Jammu and Kashmir in particular and Indian Nation as a whole cannot forget the services of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan first as member of the Redcliff Boundary Commission and then as Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Princely State that culminated into the State’s accession with India.
Chief Patron of the Mahajan Sabha, Jugal Mahajan paid rich tribute to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan and described him as a great patriot with whose wisdom Jammu and Kashmir became a part of India. He spoke about his simplicity and social reforms especially in Mahajan Biradari and said that he was against unnecessary extravaganza in marriages and this should be followed by all biradaris even now.
Ravi Rohmetra spoke about the life history of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan and recalled his contributions in different capacities. Prem Gupta , IGP (Retd.) also spoke on the occasion.
K B Jandial, Retd (IAS) reminded that Justice Mahajan ensured a road connectivity to Jammu through Gurdaspur without which accession of the State with India could not have been possible.
Bhanu Mahajan, Corporator Gandhi Nagar and Corporator Rahul also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the former Mayor and other dignitaries garlanded the statue of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan and participated in the Havan. Those present on the occasion, included Jagdish Vaid (President Mahajan Sabha Gandhi Nagar), Prem Gupta (former IGP), Sham Lal Langer, Ram Langer, Ram Saroop Gupta, Om Parkash Mahajan, Raghuvir Gupta, P C Gupta (General Secretary), Dr R.K Gupta, Bansi Lal Gupta (Sr Vice President), N K Gupta, Romesh Rohmetra, Raman Mahajan, Raj Pal Gupta, Ravi Gupta, Yash Paul Gupta, Mahipal Gupta, Prof Sameer Gupta.
A large number of prominent persons of Mahajan Biradari participated in the function and paid tribute.
