Jammu, Nov 4: The 22th death anniversary of Mahant Bachitter Singh Ji was observed here at Digiana Ashram Jammu under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch.
Thousands of devotees participated in this religious function. Many ‘Ragies’, preaches & leaders of the various political, social & Sikh Organizations paid tribute to the ‘holy soul’. Bhai Amarjit Singh Ragi of Patiala recited ‘Shabad Kirtan’.
S. Rangil Singh and S. Harbans Singh former Ministers, S. Sudershan Singh Wazir Ex-president JKSGPB, S. Dayal Singh Wazir gen. secy, Akali Dal, S. Harminder Singh SP & Avtar Singh Khalsa Gen. Secy J&K Sikh United Front threw light on the life & his history of the departed soul. They said that Mahant Bachitter Singh Ji reconstructed Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch which was damaged in the riots of 1947. He also constructed Digiana Ashram Jammu & a Ashram at Baramulla in Kashmir Valley where orphan children were given religion education and boarding house at Chand Nagar, Jammu. Due to the establishments of these ashrams the children got religious education and became Ragies/ granthies and are getting employment in the Gurudwaras.All the speakers highly appreciated the role of Mahant Singh in field of education.
Mahant Manjit Singh while addressing the religion gathering said the services of the 12th Saint of Dera Nangali Sahib shall always remembered towards the humanity. He said that he had fulfilled the dream of Mahant Ji by making MBS/ Eng. College and now a new building of Medical College is being started. He asked the Sikh Youths to become Amrit Dhari & work for the welfare of the common masses.
He further announced that S. Surinder Singh Kala has been appointed as convener J&K Motor Transport Companies Association to rebuilt the transport which was suffering a lot since many years back due to the negligence of self-interested persons.
The leaders of the various Sikh organizations including Mohinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Kapoor Singh Datta, Ramnik Singh Bijral, Avtar Singh, Amar Singh and Ranjeet Singh were also present.
