JAMMU, July 25: Mahant Rohit Shastri, President, Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, has submitted a memorandum to G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Tourism, seeking latter’s intervention to bring all the ancient temples of Jammu and Kashmir on the tourism map of the World.
During his meeting with the Union Minister, Mahant Rohit Shastri said that Jammu is known world over as “city of temples”. He said every year lakhs of tourists visit the holy shrines of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Vaishno Devi in Jammu region and other shrines and tourist destinations of Kashmir.
“But there are various other pilgrimage destinations of rich history and religious significance in Jammu region which are not visited by the tourists and pilgrims because they’re not promoted like the destinations of Kashmir are,” he said
He asked the Minister to particularly bring on the tourism map Shri Bawa Kailakh Dev temple, Shri Parshuram Temple Akhnoor, Showa Mata Temple Ranjan Jandial, and various other temples of the region which have rich religious significance.
He told the Minister that this would help in generation of employment for the local youth as well.
According to Shastri, the religious places in Jammu are already connected with good and all-weather roads. The only requirement, according to him, is to give these places proper publicity.
By doing so, he said, the rich history and glory of the temples would be glorified again.
