Mahesh Kaul’s book on Heritage Tourism of Jammu hits stalls

JAMMU, Dec 18: Dr. Mahesh Kaul’s book titled “Exploring Heritage Tourism in Jammu -A Marketing Perspective” hits stalls here, today.
The book was released at an impressive function organized by Himalayan Heritage Foundation at Writers Club, Abhinav Theatre. Ravinder Raina , president, BJP, J&K was the chief guest on the occasion who said, “Books are cultural resources that not only document the rich heritage but create a consciousness in the society for continuity of the aesthetics. Jammu has rich heritage that has upheld human values in all its manifestations”.
He said “Dr. Mahesh Kaul has been tirelessly working to sensitise the masses about the cultural nationalism with his works. This book is an essential for all heritage tourism stakeholders. Jammu and Kashmir is a cultural mosaic that offers multitude of scope to develop marketing strategies”, he added.
Padam Shri Prof. Shiv Nirmohi who was the special guest on the occasion said, “There has been a dearth of scholars who can do the primary research on Jammu and its cultural moorings. This book opens new vistas to give Jammu heritage its due in the policy making arenas. Time has come to encourage the heritage studies at all levels. History of Jammu is replete with the Vedic confirmations of the antiquity of the temples, forts and architectural marvels and this must be placed before the public and policy makers.
Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism, Jammu who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion said “Jammu has a rich heritage and its importance for the tourism sector has been factored in the tourism policy. There is a scope for value addition. Directorate has been extensively working to market Jammu tourism”, he added.
Dr.Mahesh Kaul, author of the book said, “This book is dedicated to the people of Jammu who have upheld the progressive society at all costs. It has sheltered refugees of all hues. Be it 1947 PoJK refugees or Kashmiri Pandit Hindu refugees. Dogras have upheld humanity at all costs. All nationalists must join to safeguard Jammu heritage, he added.
Sanjay Arya, CEO, Shubhi Publications, Gurugram while speaking on the occasion said,”Shubhi publications has been working tirelessly to showcase the historical reality about Jammu and Kashmir.
Vikas Kapoor, a keen observer of Dogra heritage reviewed the book while the proceedings of the function were conducted by Krishna Saproo.
The book has an extensive foreword by Dr.Karan Singh, eminent Indic scholar, scion of the Dogra dynasty and statesman.
