LEH, July 14: District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra today conducted an initiative of spreading door-to-door awareness at Ibex Colony.
Detailed information was given to migrant women regarding women-related issues, mental health, menstrual hygiene, One Stop Centre and Women helpline 181 for women in distress.
Mahila Shakti Kendra’s team said that hygiene practices of women during menstruation are important as it has health impacts in terms of increased vulnerability to reproductive tract infection. Proper menstrual hygiene, correct perception and belief play an important role in empowering women and adolescent girls.
Further, the Mahila Shakti Kendra team said that the main purpose of this awareness is to make people aware, especially women who are facing any violence against them. It was informed that they can get help from Women Helpline 181. Also, it was informed that the purpose of One Stop Centre is to provide integrated services for women affected by domestic violence, sexual harassment, emotional and mental abuse.
Further, it was informed that the centre assists the aggrieved women by providing police assistance, legal aid, psycho-social counselling, medical aid and a temporary stay of 5 days.
