JAMMU, May 25: First ever working committee meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) was held here today wherein the party representatives from all over the State discussed future political strategies.
The day long working committee proceedings, which were divided into two sessions, started with lighting of the lamp by party president Anil Gupta in presence of Prof Chaman Lal Gupta (former Union Minister of State for Defence ), Munish Gupta (Retd. Judge) and Manmohan Gupta from Kishtwar.
The JKDF chalked out a comprehensive programme for the party and discussed various aspects of local, national and political issues, including strategies to fight the upcoming 2014 Assembly elections. Strengthening of organizational structure, implementation of delimitation, eradication of discrimination and disparities in representation in services, the ideology of the JKDF and connecting the common people with this ideology were the focal points of the meeting.
The election of Anil Gupta as first party president was also endorsed in the meeting.
In his address to the representatives, Anil Gupta said that there was dire need to counter anti people parties in Jammu and Kashmir and bring a check to growing corruption and Goonda Raj established by NC-Congress Coalition Government. “Today is the beginning of our resolve to throw these forces out and fight for implementation of delimitation commission and giving fair representation to Jammu region in the State Assembly on the basis of population,” he said and claimed that JKDF was definitely going to change the equation of State politics.
Earlier the political resolution was read by JKDF Mahila Wing president Veenu Khanna while State vice president Neeraj Lucky Puri proposed to follow the footsteps of JKDF role models and Jammu heroes to lead the State to previous glory and bring it out from the prevailing chaos, corruption, discrimination and secessionism.
JKDF State general secretary Surinder Sharma advised the workers to reach the common masses and make awareness among them about the injustice and discrimination being meted out to the people of this region.
