Maintaining peace achieved by forces challenging: DGP Swain

JAMMU, Nov 8: The Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain today stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with other security forces, was quite successful in creating a conducive atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
“But to maintain this peace achieved by the forces always remains a challenging task as the enemies of the peace have been constantly looking for a chance to create tension in this region of the country,” the DGP said while chairing joint security review meetings of the Army, CRPF, and the police officers during his visit to the South Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama Districts.
Accompanied by ADGP Law & Order J&K, Vijay Kumar and IGP Vidhi Kumar Birdi, the DGP held threadbare discussions with the officers regarding enhancing coordination between the forces besides the intelligence agencies.
He also discussed the importance of people-friendly policing and security of the vulnerable population. Plans for zero-terror and area domination also remained on the agenda of these meetings.
The DGP lauded the efforts of the forces and of the intelligence agencies in fighting the scourge of terrorism in South Kashmir in particular.
“In order to completely wipe out terrorism from South Kashmir, more efforts are needed, with enhanced synergy among all the forces,” he said.
He further directed for working on plans for area domination on routine basis.
The DGP stressed upon the officers to be vigilant as according to him, the enemies of the peace are looking for the chances to disrupt the peace in Kashmir.
“The peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir has been achieved after a lot of hard work and the sacrifices by the police and security forces. And maintaining this peace always remains a challenging task for the forces,” said DGP RR Swain.
While impressing for the safety and security of the people, Swain impressed upon the officers to work with professionalism and sincerity.
The DGP also took stock of the working of the Police Stations and their requirements during his visit to the twin South Kashmir Districts. He directed the officers to take care of the immediate needs of the jawans, so that they can discharge their duties without any difficulty.
ADG CRPF, Nalin Prabhat; GoC Victor Force, Major General Balbir Singh; IG Kashmir Ops CRPF, Gyanendra Kumar Verma; DIG SKR, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, among other officers attended the meetings.
