Roads constructed under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) need proper maintenance and regular repairs etc for which it has been decided that the contractors looking into the job would get on-line payment. The Department has developed e-MARG an e- Governance solution to monitor maintenance of there roads. It could, in turn prove useful in assisting the officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Road Development Authority (JKRRDA), contractors and banks.
Information Technology, through launching of e- MARG online payment system, can prove of immense help in generating online bills and their payment, online submission and tracking of bills by contractors, statutory deduction of Income Tax, Labour Cess etc. e-MARG online payment system was recently launched by the Principal Secretary R&B Department. On the occasion, the first such on line payment was released too to a construction company against the maintenance of a road in Budgam district. The facility would also cut at delays and other hassles in clearing contractors’ bills payments.
