Maize inches up on scattered demand

NEW DELHI, May 3:  Barring a marginal rise in maize prices on scattered demand, other grains such as wheat and rice held steady at the wholesale grains market today in the absence of worthwhile activity.
Traders said scattered demand from consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing regions helped maize prices to close a shade higher.
In the national capital, maize inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,380-1,390 per quintal.

Wheat, MP (deshi) 2,130-2,330, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,535-1,540, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,540-1,545 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 830-850 (50 kg), Maida 840-850 (50 kg) and Sooji 900-925 (50kg).
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 9,100-9,400, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,900-9,500, Permal raw 2,200-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,350, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,290-1,295, Jowar yellow 1,475-1,500, white 2,300-2,500, Maize 1,380-1,390, Barley 1,330-1,340, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
