PULWAMA: At least four army soldiers, including a Major, have been martyred and several injured in an ongoing encounter with militants in Pinglan area of Pulwama district, four days after a fidayeen attack claimed the lives of 49 paramilitary men in the south Kashmir district.
As per initial information, two militants are present in the village which has been sealed off by hundreds of soldiers from army backed by SOG and CRPF.
A joint team of army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF 182 BN, 183BN and SOG Pulwama launched cordon and search operation in Pinglan area and as the soldiers entered the village militants opened fire triggering an encounter, police sources said.
The four army personnel who were martyred in the encounter are identified as Major VS Dhoundiyal, Havaldar Sheo Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.
