Major bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held

RAMBAN, June 17: Following the directions of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar to thwart the nefarious designs of the persons engaged in bovines smuggling, Batote police foiled a major smuggling bid of milch animals by rescuing 30 bovine animals and arresting a driver.
As per police sources, on some reliable inputs, police team from Batote police station laid a naka at Bagga Nallah and intercepted a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK02AT-8215.
On seeing police party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the vehicle was chased by police team and intercepted at some distance away from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 30 bovine animals and nabbed the driver of the vehicle, who was smuggling the bovines to Valley.
The accused driver has been identified as Khalid Mohammad, son of Manzoor Ahmed of Thard, district Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 61/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO police station Batote Inspector Arun Kotwal made the arrest under the direct supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
