Major bovines smuggling bid foiled, 2 arrested

RAMBAN, Dec 28: Police foiled a major bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 40 cattle and arresting two persons near Jawahar Tunnel area, falling under the jurisdiction of Banihal police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team raised a naka near Nowgam Banihal and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AF-1583 and JK14D-771.
During checking, police rescued 40 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested the drivers of both the vehicles. The trucks were also seized by the police.
The accused has been identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Sher Ali, a resident of Kheri and Farooq Ahmed Wani, son of Atta Mohammad Wani, a resident of Sher Bibi, Chambalwas.
A case under FIR Number 203/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered against the accused at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Jawahar Tunnel police post SI Yashpal made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar, SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
