JAMMU, Sept 3: Nagrota police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu’ foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 71 cattle and arresting three persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled four Srinagar bound trucks to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot by breaking the barriers. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the vehicles and intercepted them.
During checking, police rescued 71 bovine animals from the trucks and arrested three persons, who have been identified as Arshad Ali, son of Talib Hussain of Village Ragoora, Mohammad Saleem, son of Mohammad Younas of Gole Gujaral and Zakir Ali, son of Abdul Aziz of Sail Kori Majalta.
Cases under FIR Numbers 212/18, 213/18, 214/18 and 215/18 have been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by ASI Sadiq Hussain, HC Sudesh Parihar, HC Ramesh Kumar, Constable Naeem Shehjad, Constable Jeevan Kumar, Constable Chaman Lal and Constable Mohammad Shafi made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh Slathia, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
