Major bovines smuggling bids foiled; 104 cattle rescued, 3 arrested

RAMBAN, June 22: Chande-rkot police foiled major bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 104 cattle and arresting three persons.
As per police sources, based on tip-off, a team from Chanderkot police station laid a naka and signaled a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number JK02AL-5917 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 24 bovine animals from the truck and arrested the truckdriver.
In another incident, during routine patrolling at Dalwas area, a team from Chanderkot police station intercepted two persons, carrying flock of bovines.
During questioning, it was established that both of them are bovine smugglers and were trying to smuggle the cattle on foot from Jammu towards Srinagar.
Acting swiftly, police team arrested both the bovine smugglers, who have been identified as Mohammad Aslam, son of Guddu of RS Pura, Jammu and Rafaqat Ali, son of Mohammad Hussain of Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 32/16 and 33/16 have been registered at Chanderkot police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SI Vishal Kumar from Chanderkot police station foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Ahmed and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
