Major bovines smuggling bids foiled; 140 cattle rescued, 4 arrested

RAMBAN, Oct 2: Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 140 cattle and arresting four persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Batote Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and intercepted two trucks.
During checking, police rescued 53 bovine animals from the vehicles and seized them.
Similarly, 44 bovine animals were rescued from two Srinagar bound trucks by Chanderkote Police and 43 cattle were rescued from two trucks at Shan Palace by Ramban Police.
Four persons involved in the cattle smuggling have been arrested. The arrested persons have been identified as Riyaz Ahmed, son of Mubarak Itoo of Darsipora, Banihal, Anwar Ali, son of Fateh Hussain of Palpar Ragoora, Jammu, Munshi Khan, son of Jamal Din of Sidhra, Jammu and Mohammad Asdullah, son of Ghulam Hassan of Woogra Tehsil Dooru, District Anantnag.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Batote, Chanderkote and Ramban Police Stations and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Batote Inspector Nazir Ahmed, SHO Chanderkote Inspector Abid Bukhari and SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal foiled the bovines smuggling bids under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
