KATHUA, Dec 8: A major fire incident was averted in Bani town due to timely intervention of civil administration and police.
SDM Bani along with SHO Bani immediately rushed to the spot, saved the house and house hold goods from being perished in the fire. The fire broke out in the house of Ajab Singh, Forest Range Officer (retd), near Jammu Central Cooperative Bank, Bani. The reason of outbreak of fire was use of heating appliances which have been seized by the police.
The police swung into action and controlled the fire.
The people of the area have expressed concern over lack of Fire Brigade facility in Bani area. Mudasar Ali a social activist of the area said despite the repeated pleas to administration that a fire brigade be stationed at Bani so that during such eventualities its services could be utilized, the authorities did not consider the demand with the result the people of the entire tehsil are facing problems.
He made an appeal to DC, Kathua and higher ups in the Government to concede the demand immediately.
