JAMMU, May 6: A major Gynecology surgery of a 60-year-old patient was successfully conducted at Maternity Hospital (MH) Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Under directions from Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal & Dean Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals Jammu for starting of non-Covid OPD, IPD, Operations, etc from March 2022, this was the 1st major case of Gynecology operated in MH Gandhi Nagar.
A 60-year old patient, residence of Ramban with H/o Dermoid cyst was operated for Hysterectomy with Laprotomy. The surgery was done by Dr Reeta Thakur Associate Professor along with Dr Aditi Shaney Consultant, Dr Kartik (PG From Department of Anesthesia), Dr Robina Nazir Associate Professor, Dr Shipra Consultant, Dr Gorav Sharma (PG) under guidance of Dr Amita Gupta (Head, Department of Gynae & Obst).
The technicians and other staff who assisted in the surgery include Mamta Sharma (SSN) Incharge OT, Reetika (SSN), Nancy Verma (JSN), Tamana (JSN), Nadeem & Anil (MTS) and Shagun Thapa. The Blood was arranged in Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar (Health) with coordination of Incharge Blood Bank Gurdeep Singh and Dr Narinder Butiyal (Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar). Other logistics and support were provided by Dr Arun Sharma (Medical Superintendent, Maternity Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu).
Since March 2022, the Hospital has been divided into Covid as well as non-covid, with proper segregation of routes and separate OTs, labor rooms, ICUs, wards etc for both, just in case there is any resurgence in Covid cases. Gynecology & Obstetrics OPD, indoor admission and Caeserian or normal deliveries or procedures for non-Covid cases were started at MH Gandhi Nagar since March this year.
