SRINAGAR: A major tragedy was today averted when a grenade lobbed by unidentified persons was defused without causing any damage after it did not explode in the main town in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Official sources said panic gripped the main town of Anantnag this afternoon when unidentified persons hurled a grenade at security forces deployed in the area.
However, the grenade didn’t explode, they said, adding the area was immediately sealed and those present there were shifted to safe places.
Later, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot and the grenade was successively defused without causing any damage, they added. (AGENCIES)
