Make Gojri compulsory in schools: Hakla

POONCH, Aug 17: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual of the State has appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti that Gojri language be introduced in the 1st to 10th standard syllabus of the Jammu and Kashmir Government institution on the pattern of Kashmiri, Dogri, and Punjabi languages which   were recently introduced by the J&K Govt. in Jammu and Kashmir education institution.
In a statement issued here today he said this would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language. Shamsher  Hakla Poonchi further added that the Gojri language is being spoken by a very large number population of Gujjars and Bakerwals of the State the number of which goes over thirty four lakhs which in no way could be ignored as their only mother language is Gojri, therefore, keeping in view the demand of such a huge number of population of Gujjar and Bakerwals of the State are for the inclusion of Gojri language in the 1st to 10th  as a compulsory subject in the Jammu and Kashmir education Institutions. He termed it the most genuine and justified demand.
