Makers release first look of Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Sardar Udham Singh’

NEW DELHI: Producer Ronnie Lahiri on Tuesday released the first look of Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Sardar Udham Singh’.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Ronnie shared the first look of Vicky in the movie and wrote,”A tribute to one of the bravest freedom fighters of India. Presenting the first look of @vickykaushal09 in & as #SardarUdhamSingh set to release in 2020! @ShoojitSircar #SheelKumar @writish #ShubenduBhattacharya @filmsrisingsun @sardarudham”.
Looking sharp in long, grey overcoat, Vicky was sporting a vintage look with a hat and neatly cropped hair.
Director Shoojit Sircar also shared the first look and said,”Sardar Udham #SardarUdhamSingh @vickykaushal09 @ronnielahiri #SheelKumar @writish @veerakapur7 @kumarthakurone @ajoydada #ShubenduBhattacharya @filmsrisingsun @sardarudham”.
Vicky Kaushal said,”Running my fingers thru the bullet holes at Jallianwala Baug, little did I know that 1 day I’d get a chance to bring alive the lesser known martyr, UDHAM SINGH. #SardarUdhamSingh @ShoojitSircar @ronnielahiri #SheelKumar @writish #ShubenduBhattacharya @filmsrisingsun @sardarudham”.

The movie is written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya.
Udham was responsible for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, in order to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. Singh lived five years in various cities, including Chicago and New York City. He travelled to Europe as Frank Brazil (a pseudonym he gave himself). He survived working as a carpenter, railway line worker and labourer before he made his way back to Punjab in 1927.
Vicky was last seen in ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.
