JAMMU, Jan 3: Renowned Kashmiri poet and writer, Sahitya Academy award winner and best book Awardee from State Government Makhan Lal Kanwal breathed his last today after a brief illness.
His cremation took place this afternoon at Jagti township. Mr Kanwal was hospitalized after complaining pain in the chest early this morning. However he could not revive despite hard efforts of doctors.
A large number of people including scholars were present during his cremation and they gave a touching adieu to the departed soul. Mr Kanwal has many books and articles in Kashmiri and Urdu language to his credit.
