JAMMU, Oct 5: Various delegations call on Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh during his visit to Jammu on Sunday.
A delegation from remote area of village Malai in Tehsil Drabshala in Kishtwar district led by Tara Chand Parihar, chairman Panchayat Sangana who are facing the threat of landslides and soil erosion for last over one year and another deputation of Jammu Tourist Trade Action Committee met Dr Jitendra Singh and apprised him of their various problems.
The members of both the delegations sought immediate intervention of Dr Singh in settling the demands.
The delegation fro village Malai while expressing serious concern over the soil erosion and land slides in the area said that they were facing serious threat and their loves are in great danger in case immediate steps wee not taken.
The delegation informed the Union Minister that there would be any catastrophe in future in the area and stressed on pre-emptive measures be taken. They said that the people feel scared as the threat of land slides looms large during rainy season and the situation can aggravate during Winter.
The delegation informed Union Minister that despite approaching the administration several times it failed to take steps so that the people are relieved from the worries.
The delegation appealed, Dr Singh to adopt the village under Prime Minister’s Adarsh Gram Yojna. Dr Singh informed the delegation that as he had already adopted four villages under the scheme it will not be possible for him to adopt any more village this year. But he assured the delegation of keeping the village on priority for the next year besides taking up the issue with the district administration.
The delegation of Tourist Trade Action Committee, Jammu was led by its chairman Kuldeep Wahi and its president Devinder Choudhary who submitted a memorandum to him highlighting the various demands.
The memorandum said that the Jammu being centre of economic activities of the State its trade and economy will suffer by extending train services to holy township of Katra.
The delegation demanded that all the trains coming from different parts of country should terminate from Jammu Railway Station where from DMUs be run upto Katra and around otherwise the Jammu will become Pathankot and the people dealing with tourism, hotels and other trade will suffer badly.
The delegation also demanded completion of other tourism projects in Jammu like Cable Car, artificial lake and restoration of historical Mubarak Mandi to its pristine glory, up gradation of Bagh-e-Bahu and Aquarium at Bahu Fort, development of Buddhist place of Ambaran, establishment of railway coach factory, Abolition of Service Tax on pilgrimages, establishment of office of Divisional Railway manager at Jammu, extension of existing Railway Station at Jammu by constructing two additional platforms, double track electrified railway lines from Pathankot to Jammu, starting of two to three Shatabdhi like high speed trains with termination at Jammu, opening of Suchetgarh border on the pattern of Wagah Border to encourage border tourism, completion of Sohni Mahiwal Project oink hour Tehsil, opening of Excel World, laser Show at Bagh-e-Bahu and promotion of Khoon temple at Mansar.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured the delegation that all the demands will be taken up with the State and Central Government by him.
