Malavika bags lead role in Majidi’s ‘Beyond The Clouds’

MUMBAI, Mar 14:  Theatre actress Malavika Mohanan has bagged the lead role in Iranian director Majid Majidi’s film “Beyond The Clouds”.
Actress Deepika Padukone had auditioned for the role and some of her pictures had leaked online but things did not work out between her and the makers.
Daughter of renowned cinematographer K U Mohanan, Malavika will now feature in the film which centres around a brother-sister relationship.
A spokesperson of Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films, the movie’s producers, confirmed the news.
“Malavika is on board to play the leading lady in the film ‘Beyond The Clouds’. Majidi did a look test with her and was very happy with the results. She has started the shoot in Mumbai.
“Mr Majidi found his character in Malavika. He was looking for a face who could fit the character and own it and for him, Malavika made the cut,” the spokesperson said.
The film also marks the debut of actor Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter, who started shooting for the film last month. (AGENCIES)
