Malaysia’s Sept factory output up 1.0 pct y/y, below forecast

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11:  Malaysia’s industrial production in September rose 1.0 percent from a year earlier, well below expectations, data from the Statistics Department showed on Thursday.
A poll of nine economists had forecast factory output would grow 2.5 percent, shored up by both export and domestic demand.
The rise in September was the smallest since March. It was dragged lower by a fall in mining sector production.
The August increase in output was revised up to 2.7 percent year-on-year from 2.3 percent reported earlier.
