Maldives launches "Tradian" digital platform to streamline trade operations

COLOMBO, Apr 20: The Maldivian government has formally commenced operations on “Tradian,” a national single-window platform designed to streamline import and export procedures, the island nation’s state media reported on Sunday.
Officials expect the platform’s adoption to enhance efficiency and eliminate administrative bottlenecks, providing a smoother process for those engaged in international commerce, PSM News said.
The state media described the rollout of the digital platform a significant step in President Mohamed Muizzu’s digitalisation agenda, “which seeks to improve trade infrastructure and expand accessibility for local businesses”.
The platform was developed in consultation with economic experts and business sector stakeholders, PSM News said.
Maldivian authorities have mandated that, effective from June 1, all import and export transactions must be conducted exclusively through Tradian.
In line with this move, the Maldives Customs Service has begun integrating key services into the system, including the registration of shipping agents and freight forwarders, foreign-going vessel registration, submission of vessel arrival details, and submission of sea cargo manifests. (UNI)
