JAMMU, June 12: PCC general secretary Vikram Malhotra has criticized the J&K Housing Board for adopting an attitude of political bias while conducting survey of beneficiaries of “Housing for All” scheme rolled out by the Union Govt.
In a press statement issued here today, Malhotra said the scheme in Jammu is being implemented as housing for ruling party workers. He said that there are large scale discrepancies in the assessment of beneficiaries by the employees of the Housing and Urban Affairs Department. They in collision with the workers of BJP and aides of legislators who accompany them while visiting the homes of the applicants ignore the poor and needy and people affiliated to other political parties and instead favour their workers and affiliates.
Malhotra claimed that similar, in fact a better scheme was launched by the UPA- I and UPA -II, called the BSUP(Basic Services for Urban Poor) in which 2,75,000 was given to the homeless and cluster with kutcha houses and the benefits reached the people who were deserving and poor. No distinction was made on the basis of party affiliations.
Cong leader urged upon the authorities especially MD Housing Board and Commissioner JMC, to ensure that the beneficiaries are chosen and selected in a bipartisan manner and those who are deserving and needy should get benefitted irrespective of party affiliation.
