Malhotra reviews arrangements for festivals

JAMMU, Nov 9:  The Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra has asked Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) , PHE, Medical, CA&PD and R&B Departments to make elaborate arrangements for upcoming festivals of Diwali and Muharram for the convenience of people.
Chairing a meeting of the civic body, PDD, PHE and other departments, the Chairman took a detailed review of the arrangements made  by the administration for the   auspicious days. He directed the Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Khajuria to   ensure cleanliness and replacement of the damaged street lights across the city and asked him to ensure that the roads and lanes, especially in the city, are restored in coordination with the NBCC and ERA so that people do not suffer.
A threadbare discussion was held on checking food adulteration, especially, sweets and other commodities in view of the heavy demand and consumption during the festival season.
Mr. Malhotra also directed the PHE, R&B, PDD Departments to ensure   adequate supply of drinking water, uninterrupted electricity and renovation of lanes and main roads.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and other officers of the Legislative Council Secretariat and the concerned officers of the corporation.
