JAMMU, July 20: Social activist and senior Teli Biradari leader Advocate Mohammad Latif Mailk appealed to Governor NN Vohra to enhance the income slab for getting the benefits of the reservation by the OBCs in the State from existing Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
In a letter sent to Governor, Latif said that the OBCs of the J&K has been discriminated as even after the acceptance of the Mandal Commission report by the Government of India and historic judgment by the Apex Court of India that OBCs of the rest of the country are getting 27 per cent reservation, but till date the Mandal Commission’s report nor the Supreme Court judgment have been implemented in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Malik in his representation submitted to the Governor demanded enhancement in the income slab in J&K at par with the Central Government from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
