Malik distributes scholarship among children of construction workers

SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment Abdul Gani Malik toured various areas of Gurez and interacted with people living in far-flung areas of the remote tehsil of the Valley with regard to policies and programmes launched by Government for the welfare of registered construction workers and unemployed youth.
Various deputations called on the Minister and apprised him about problems confronted them.
Member Legislative Assembly, Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi also accompanied the Minister.
Besides, Director Employment Abdul Rashid, representative of EDI, Syed Firdous, CEO, JK BCWD S. M. Hussain and other sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
The Minister distributed scholarship of Rs 70,000 among the children of registered construction workers on the spot and also distributed cheques under VSAs among the concerned beneficiaries.
Mr. Malik announced allotment of a bus for students of GDC, Gurez during his inspection of the college. MLA, Nazir Gurezi also announced a bus for the college out of his constituency development fund.
The JK PCC, executing agency of construction of GDC Gurez complex informed the Minister that within a couple of months work on first floor of the complex would be completed so that the students who are presently studying in make shift huts would be able to shift in proper college accommodation.
On this occasion, the senior officers of Labour and Employment accompanying the Minister shared the information with the people regarding employment policies of Government and also the procedure for getting registered as construction worker to avail the financial assistance for different purposes.
