Sir,
Refer article ‘Malnutrition in India’ DE Mar 16, 2019.
Malnutrition is one of the chronic problems facing the country today. It seems all the Governments right from independence upto present Government do not lay much emphasis to tackle this problem. Though Governments day in and day out claim that schemes are framed to overcome the disease, no tangible results have come forth.
The malnutrition is a big malady which hinders human resource development. It is stressed upon all the political parties to make malnutrition a poll plank in the coming elections in the country. However, one is skeptical whether the political parties in India will include this less attractive plank in their manifestoes.
Despite India’s 50 percent increase in GDP since 1991, more than one third of world’s malnourished children live in India. It is indeed a social stigma on nation’s social landscape which needs to be eradicated by launching and implementing some tenable social schemes in the coming years.
