JAMMU, Oct 8: An Inter-Collegiate Patriotic Song Competition was organized by the Gandhian Studies Centre and Music Department of MAM College to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, here today.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof MPS Ishar was the chief guest on the occasion, while the noted social activist Ved Ghai presided over the function.
Mr Ishar lauded the efforts of the Principal Gandhian Studies Centre and the Music Department for organizing the event.
Assistant Director, Academic Staff College, University of Jammu and member Advisory Board of Gandhian Studies was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the function started with lighting of the traditional lamp by the Principal of the College, Dr Ramesh Chander.
11 students participated in the event which was adjudicated by Sunaina Kaul, (retired), Head Music Department, Institute of Music And Fine Arts and renowned singer, Sham Sajan, Director Indian Cultural Forum J&K and renowned singer and composer and Ravi Kumar Sharma, Director Sarswati Sangeet Kala Mandir and renowned composer.
Dr Twinkle Suri, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre presented welcome address, while Principal of the College, Dr Ramesh Chander dwelt on the importance of the values of Gandhiji and motivated them to adhere to the values of patriotism and non violence propagated by him.
Govt MAM College, Jammu, GCW Udhampur and GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu won first, second and third prize respectively, while GCW Parade got the certificate of merit.
Dr Maharaj Krishen Mussa compeered the proceedings of the programme, while Prof Kailash Mehra, Hod Music presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Renu Bala, Prof Banpreet Kour, Prof Nirlape Kour, Prof Ravinder Kour, Prof Shalini Sharma, Prof Sujat Khan and Prof Shivi Mehra.
