MAM College organises national workshop on Taal Paddhati

Eminent Mridangam player from Andhra Pradesh, Peravali Jaya Bhaskar being honoured at MAM College Jammu on Thursday.

JAMMU May 4: PG Department of Music, MAM College Jammu organised a one day national workshop on Hindustani and Carnatic Taal Paddhati in the Department of Music, which received overwhelming response from the participants.
The expert of the workshop was Peravali Jaya Bhaskar, an eminent Mridangam player from Andhra Pradesh. He has received the training in Mridangam from Padamashri and Sangeet Natak Aakademi Awardee, Guru Yella Venkateshwara Rao. He has had the fortune to be a part of many productions of her Gurus.
Jaya Bhaskar has given numerous performances in India and overseas. He has received many titles and awards including the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and many more. He described in detailed about the Hindustani and Carnatic Taal Paddhati. He also explained about the Jugalbandis of Hindustani and Carnatic Music. At the end he performed the few Talas of Carnatic Music.
Dr. G.S.Rakwal, Principal of MAM College was the chief guest on the occasions. He expressed gratitude to the artist for such a wonderful workshop. He also expressed a deep sense of gratitude to the artist and the organizing team in providing national exposure to the students of the college.
Dr. Kuldeep Raina presented the formal welcome address. He complimented Jaya Bhaskar for sparing his valuable time for the students who can benefit from the workshop. Those who attended the workshop were students from GCW Parade, Institute of Music and Fine Arts and MAM College Jammu. Dr. Bharat Bhushan from GDC Hiranagar and faculty members from GCW Parade and MAM College Jammu were also presented.
Prof Asha Rani, Assistant Professor, Music of the College presented the formal vote of thanks.
