JAMMU, May 9: NSS and NCC Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu in collaboration with the J&K Thalassaemia Welfare Society, Jammu, organized a ‘Blood Donation Camp’ at the College.
The event united the community members in support of a life saving cause. More than 60 students and staff members from the college generously donated blood during the camp, showcasing acts of kindness and solidarity. Dr Rajinder Kumar, Dr Shiv Mangal Singh, Dr Parshotam Dass, Dr Shahnawaz Mushtaq were among the faculty members who donated the blood.
On the occasion, Dr B B Anand, Principal of the college, urged the community to actively participate in mitigating the sufferings of Thalassaemia children and preventing the birth of such children through genetic counselling and proper antenatal advice.
Er Sudhir Sethi, President of J&K Thalassaemia Welfare Society, Jammu, emphasized the vital role of regular blood donation camps for Thalassaemia patients, highlighting the growing need of blood for frequent transfusions required by many patients.
Additionally Dr Meena Sidhu, HoD of Transfusion Medicine Department, GMC Jammu, graced the blood camp with presence. Dr Rubina Kausar from GMC Jammu oversaw and provided essential support at the blood donation camp.
The camp was sorganized with the collective efforts of Dr Neeraj Sharma (Convenor IQAC), Prof Amitpal Kour (Convenor Academic Club) Prof Lukesha Dubgotra (NSSPO), Prof Dr Kailash Sharma (NSS PO) and Prof Shiv Kumar (NCC Officer) and the initiative witnessed an impressive turnout.
