Man – animal conflict

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘DC Reasi provides financial assistance to leopard attack victim’s family’ DE June 22,2019.
This horrific leopard attack once again brings into focus the rising incidents of man-animal conflict in the State. The rising number of attacks is a matter of concern for the people and the issue needs to be addressed on priority basis. Though the cause of this conflict is known to everybody but no serious efforts have been made by the concerned department.
It is not mere human beings who are at the receiving end but animals too lose their lives in this conflict. Recently, a wild bear was mercilessly beaten to death by people in a village in South Kashmir.
The Wildlife Department in consultation with concerned people must devise a mechanism to deal with the issue on priority basis. Otherwise there will be no end to these horrific incidents.
