RAMBAN, July 25: Keeping hawks eye over smuggling of drugs and intoxicants in the district, Chanderkote police apprehended a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches.
As per police sources, on some reliable information, police team from Chanderkote police station led by SHO Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Arun Gupta and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar laid a naka and asked a person to stop for checking on suspicious grounds.
On seeing police team approaching him, the man escaped from the spot but was apprehended near some distance by the active cops of Chanderkote police.
During checking, police recovered 41 pouches of illicit liquor and nabbed the bootlegger on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Kulwant Singh, son of Lal Singh of Bhadtand, Tehsil Rajgarh, district Ramban.
The accused was carrying the liquor for illegal sale in the upper reaches of Rajgarh, but his designs were thwarted by Chanderkote police.
A case under FIR Number 42/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered against him at police station Chanderkot and investigation started.
It is to mention here that yesterday also a bootlegger was arrested by Ramsoo police.
