Man arrested for circulating obscene videos over social media

JAMMU, Oct 22: In a major breakthrough, Cyber Police Jammu today arrested a person accused of circulating obscene videos of the complainant and blackmailing her for carrying illicit relationship with him. The accused is identified as Khurshid Ahmed, a resident of Haila Gool District Ramban.
As per police sources, on December 29 last year, a complainant who is a resident of Gool Ramban lodged a written complaint at Cyber Police Station wherein she alleged that her social media Instagram account has been hacked by an unknown person and all her photographs, private videos and chats has been compromised.
Consequently the unknown accused has been misusing the same by viral some objectionable material and showing these pictures to my mutual friends including my elder family members and relatives. She also alleged that the accused started blackmailing and harassing her, besides, also demanded huge amount from her for deleting my obscene videos.
Accordingly, a case FIR Number 33/2022 under sections 66-E, 67 and 67-A has been registered at Cyber Police Station Jammu and investigation entrusted to Inspector Sudhir Sadotra for indepth investigation into it.
During the course of investigation, the involvement of Khurshid Ahmed has been found in commission of offence.
Further, based on the mobile location of accused, a team comprised of Inspector Sudhir, Inspector Gagandeep Singh and Inspector Rakesh was deputed under the supervision of Dy SP Cyber Wasim Hamdani to arrest the accused. The police team with the help of Ramban Police succeeded in arresting the accused for further legal action against him.
SP Cyber Naresh Singh has appealed to the general public not to share bank OTP, UPI PIN, etc and never get allured with cheap online offers floating on social media and other online platforms offering products with unjustified price. Never completely rely on information like customer care numbers, fake links, etc. Review periodically security of your online accounts and stay alert and vigilant against these online fraudsters, he added.
