Man arrested for theft of donation box

Srinagar, Apr 8: Police in Baramulla today arrested a man for the theft of a Masjid donation box and have recovered stolen property from his possession.
Authorities stated that on 04-04-2024, Police Station Pattan received a written application from president Masjid Baitul Huda Pattan, Abdul Majeed Sada, stating that the donation box of the Masjid had been stolen by some thieves.
“They have also stolen a jacket and a mobile phone from the Masjid Sharief. Moreover, the thieves also stolen the donation box at the nearby Ziyarat.”
On the next day, Police Station Pattan also received information that a Samsung tablet was stolen by thieves at the State Bank of India in Pattan Market, authorities said.
In this regard, case FIR No’s 97/2024 & 102/2024 under relevant sections of the law were registered in Police Station Pattan, and an investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigations of both cases and after strenuous efforts, police officers zeroed in on one suspect identified as Nasir Ahmad Najar, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Najar Mohalla Pattan.
“He was traced and arrested at TRC Srinagar and during questioning, accused Nasir Ahmad Najar confessed his involvement in the commission of the crime,” police said.
Based on his disclosure, the stolen property has been recovered from his possession.
