Srinagar, Oct 3: Police in Awantipora today arrested an accused driver involved in a hit-and-run case within an hour of the incident.
Earlier today, the police said a road traffic accident took place at Reshipora, in which a girl named Adeeba Arshid (approximately 10 years old), daughter of Arshid Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Reshipora, was hit by a dumper bearing registration number JK01AE-317.
The police said that the vehicle was being driven rashly and negligently by Mohd Haneef Khanday, the son of Ali Mohd Khanday, a resident of Meej Pampore. “In the incident, the girl died on the spot,” the police said.
Acting swiftly, a police team apprehended the accused driver within an hour of the incident.
Accordingly, the police said that cognizance of the matter has been taken under the relevant section of the law, and the dumper has also been seized.
