UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: A man was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a newly married woman in Majalta.
As per police sources, a newly married woman was going to market, when Vijay Kumar, son of Puran Chand of Deyota intercepted her and allegedly tried to rape her.
The woman raised alarm and the locals rushed to the spot, while the accused managed to escape from the spot.
The victim narrated the ordeal to her family members, who lodged a complaint with Police Station Majalta.
Acting swiftly, police team from Majalta police station led by SHO Arjun Chib conducted a raid and arrested the accused from a hideout.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Majalta police station and investigation started.
