SAMBA, Jan 11: One person sustained over 70 percent burn injuries after committing self immolation in his native village in Samba district in mysterious circumstances today while his wife also received burn injuries in a bid to save him.
They have been identified as Taru, son of Dharam Chand of Samba aged 45 and his wife Champa. The duo was admitted in GMC Jammu for treatment in a serious condition.
Police said Taru put kerosene oil on his person and set himself ablaze. He sustained over 70 percent burn injuries and his wife tried to save him she also received burn injuries. Both of them were admitted in GMC for treatment. Police has registered a case. But it could not ascertain what was the cause of extreme step taken by Taru as he is not in a position to give statement.
