JAMMU, June 8: A 50-year-old man today committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Mangal Singh (50) son of Gareeb Das, resident of village Dalpat (Akhnoor), allegedly consumed some poisonous substance this morning at his residence following a household dispute.
The family members shifted him to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, in view of serious condition. However, the man expired there during treatment.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. A case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and inquest proceedings initiated under 174 CrPC.
