JAMMU, May 4: Upset over quarrel with his wife, a man committed suicide by hanging self in Pounichak area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, the deceased was identified as Vipan Bali (47) son of Sudesh Bali, resident of Siot, Kalakote (at present living in Ajit Colony, Pounichak).
Quoting the wife of the deceased, the spokesman said that Vipan was a habitual drunkard and he used to abuse and thrash her wife in inebriated condition. He said last night, he was heavily drunk as usual and asked his wife to open the door but she did not open the door and both exchanged heated words. When the woman opened the door in the morning, she found Vipan’s body hanging with the door outside.
“The woman informed the police, which reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting postmortem, it was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he said, adding, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
