Man convicted in road rage case, sentenced 2-year imprisonment

UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: A person accused of killing a child by hitting him with his rashly driven motorcycle in 2013, was today convicted and sentenced two year imprisonment by the court.
The Court of Judicial Magistrate Udhampur, Junaid Imtiaz Mir, convicted Pawan Kumar, son of Munshi Ram of Surni, Tehsil Ramnagar, Udhampur after finding him guilty for the offence under Sec 304-A RPC.
After considered the totality of the evidence on record, the court observed that there was enough material on the record to prove that the accused while driving motor cycle bearing registration number JK14A/5559 in a rash and negligent had hit an innocent child knocking him dead on the spot in a most gruesome manner. Prosecution has been able to successfully prove the contents of Sec 304A/279 RPC against the accused beyond reasonable shadow of doubt, the court said.
The accused was sentenced to 2- year imprisonment and was sent to District Jail Udhampur to serve the sentence. The State was represented by Prosecuting Officer Abhilasha.
